NOKIA THEATRE L.A. LIVE TO HOST INAUGURAL MOVIE PREMIERE

WARNER BROS. PICTURES' AND VILLAGE ROADSHOW PICTURES' SPEED RACER PREMIERES APRIL 26th IN BRAND NEW DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES THEATRE

April 23, 2008

NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE will host its first-ever movie premiere when the upcoming feature film Speed Racer screens at the downtown Los Angeles 7,100-seat live music and entertainment venue on Saturday, April 26th. The state-of-the-art theatre--which opened in October and hosts a full schedule of live concerts, comedy shows, corporate events and award shows--will now add motion picture world premieres to its world-class roster of programming.

“We are incredibly excited and anticipate a remarkable evening when we host the premiere of Speed Racer as our first-ever movie premiere,” said Lee Zeidman, General Manager, NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE. “The great sight lines and acoustics of NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE will create the perfect setting and experience for our guests that evening. We thank Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures, and all of the filmmakers for allowing us the opportunity to host the premiere of one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer.”

From the Wachowski brothers and producer Joel Silver, creators of the groundbreaking The Matrix trilogy, comes the live-action, high-octane film Speed Racer, which follows the adventures of the young racecar driver Speed in his quest for glory in his thunderous Mach 5. The film stars Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Matthew Fox, Benno Fürmann, Hiroyuki Sanada, Asian pop superstar Rain, and Richard Roundtree. The Wachowski brothers directed the film from their own screenplay. Joel Silver, who previously worked with the Wachowski brothers on The Matrix movies and V for Vendetta, produced the film under his Silver Pictures banner. Grant Hill, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski are also producers, with David Lane Seltzer, Michael Lambert and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers. The live-action Speed Racer showcases the kind of revolutionary visual effects and cutting-edge storytelling that have become the benchmarks of the Wachowski brothers’ films. The film is a Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, of a Silver Pictures Production, in association with Anarchos Productions.
